I am delighted to share good news of my next project with BRIT Press, the publishing department of the Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT). We are collaborating on an illustrated, four-book series of God’s Word for Gardeners devotions.
BRIT is a non-profit institution in Fort Worth, Texas, dedicated to conserving natural heritage and deepening knowledge of the plant world. We will be using specimen images and botanical artwork from BRIT’s herbarium and library collections to illustrate and display graphically God’s gardening metaphor and wisdom. The series will showcase the institution’s vast holdings while offering a fresh, rich layering of Biblical insight in beautifully crafted books.
We need $85,000 to make publishing possible, covering the cost of photography, book design, four-color printing, marketing, etc. for the first book of the series, My Father is the Gardener (working title). We are excited to work with a domestic printer in line with today’s movement in homegrown and “locally grown” produce. Every gift is precious towards our goal. 40% of sales proceeds will benefit BRIT.
He spoke about plant life, from the cedar of Lebanon to the hyssop that grows out of the walls. 1 Kings 4:33 NIV
Your tax-deductible gift to this project will help draw plant-lovers, garden-lovers, and the faith community together, increasing knowledge and wonder of the Lord in the landscape. We hope you will join us in bringing these books into being in the coming year!
