by Shelley S. Cramm In: Garden Moments on Dec 19, 2019

A gift to you from Garden in Delight: A revitalized website! Find all your favorite garden moments in God’s Word in a newly-designed, online “greenhouse,” a place to be sheltered and nourished in all things God and gardening. Glance at the features listed below and come back over the quieter moments this winter to explore both new and old in this garden-on-the-web. Merry Christmas!

Devotions Blog

These bi-weekly posts have been renamed the Devotions Blog, their archives arrayed in an easier-to-see format. Also notice gardening topics, or categories, prominently displayed with article titles, simplifying the “click” to similar content.

At Garden in Delight, we grow faith like a mustard seed—and we grow mustards seeds!

Shelley S. Cramm, www.gardenindelight.com

The heart-cry of the Devotions Blog is to put God’s Words into practice—to seek, find, ponder, rhyme; all the while digging, planting, working with hands, becoming well-versed and wholeheartedly devoted to God. May coming to the garden mean coming to Him, our Lord Jesus, Rabboni, as the plants and vignettes of the Bible grow in our gardens…God and gardening together.

As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.
Luke 6:47-48 NIV

All posts of the Devotions Blog have the snowy flowers of hyssop as their banner, a botanical reminder of the clean slate we have with God in Jesus (Psalm 51:7 & Hebrews 10:19-22)

Plant Guide

What is a “goodly fruit?” Can you grow a cedar of Lebanon? Which herbs of the Bible are your favorites? These and so many more questions are entertained in the Plant Guide, a place to see the plants of the Bible, learn a little something, and be inspired to fill garden and landscape with plant-glimpses of God’s Word. And then bring garden to table! Make bouquets with flowers of the field or season side dishes with Biblical spices…discover a multitude of ways to:

Taste and See that the Lord is good.
Psalm 34:8 NIV

Additionally, find an extensive bibliography for further study and horticultural information for the Bible’s plants in Plant Resources, the Plant Index for God’s Word for Gardeners Bible in pdf, and a playful A-to-Z poetry primer collection, a precious book for future publication – see it here first!

All pages in the Plant Guide have the flowering almond tree as their banner, a botanical reminder to be always on the watch to see God’s Word fulfilled (Luke 21:36 & Jeremiah 1:11-12)

God and Gardening

Catch a new page created for the story of our family garden. Since beginning the adventure of writing devotions for God’s Word for Gardeners Bible, our “empty” backyard—as in without form and void (Genesis 1:2)—has been FILLED, just as God says in so many ways, “…be fruitful…increase…and fill…” O gardening humor!

How about you? Have you looked back at pictures of your garden before you got started? Even from season to season, I forget the bounty that surrounded me until I see a former snapshot. May this page confirm that God and gardening go together and inspire you to seek Him, however timidly at first, as you plan and plant your garden…until His glory and friendship become second nature.

It is not by planting in spring and gathering flowers in summer that the heart of the garden is won; rather is this aim achieved by an acquaintance which has deepened to friendship, and through friendship ripened to love.

H.H. Thomas, Round the Year in the Garden, 1916, quoted in the Foreword to God’s Word for Gardeners Bible

In simple humility, let our gardener, God, landscape you with the Word, making a salvation-garden of your life.
James 1:21 The Message

Have fun exploring the website and may you be blessed to garden in delight!
